Good things come in threes: it’s a Matchbox Twenty tour in the year 2020! It’s also been three years since the pop rock all stars have spent any kind of significant time on the road. Joining them on the hefty 50 date jaunt will be Los Angeles ’90s rockers the Wallflowers – oh, the nostalgia!
Despite Matchbox Twenty front man Rob Thomas’s steady stream of solo releases, the band hasn’t dropped an album since 2012’s North. Since then, the record’s standout single, “She’s So Mean,” has accumulated a staggering 25 million views on YouTube. It’s clear these fans are wanting more! And how could they not?
Matchbox Twenty is a pop rock powerhouse. The band has been churning out the hits since their 1996 debut album, Yourself or Someone like You went 12x Platinum (or as those industry-savvy put it: Diamond). Their subsequent two albums also went multiple Platinum with singles dominating radio waves, were nominated for four Grammys, and won the 2004 People’s Choice Award for Favorite Musical Group. The latter award seems fitting, as you’d be hard pressed to find someone who doesn’t know a hook or two from their extensive, hit-filled catalog.
The tour kicks off on July 17th at the Wind Creek Event Center in Bethlehem, PA, hooks southeast then westward, finishing off with a show in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl. The tour is sure to bring positive vibes to fans nationwide.
“I’m proud to be a part of the greatest pop rock band in the world and I can’t wait to play with them again,” Thomas said in a statement. “Stepping on stage with Matchbox and sharing those songs with the fans feels as natural as breathing to me at this point.” Here at Ticket Rewards, we feel the same way!
